Data Scientist – Defence

Overview

You join the C3 AI Data Science team to design and deploy ML-driven analytics for large-scale enterprise applications, partnering with customers to translate data into actionable AI solutions. You will work on defence-focused programs, ensuring mission-ready systems through predictive maintenance, targeting, and logistics support in secure environments. The role combines research, development, and delivery, offering impact across UK MOD, NATO, and allied partners. You will drive scalable AI initiatives on the C3 AI Platform with cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, design, and deployment of ML algorithms, intelligent agents, and optimization solutions on the C3 AI Suite
• Support customers in building their own applications on the C3 AI Suite
• Contribute to design and implementation of new features for the C3 AI Suite
• Analyze model performance, diagnose issues, and adjust hyperparameters
• Collaborate with data scientists and SMEs to validate and integrate new data elements

Key requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent
• Applied AI experience (generative AI, agentic solutions, regression/classification, supervised/unsupervised learning)
• Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics)
• Experience with scalable ML (MapReduce, streaming)
• Ability to drive projects and work independently and in a team
