Senior Construction Manager

Overview

In this contract role, you will act as the primary technical authority for construction on a major, highly regulated project in the nuclear sector. You will lead site activities, ensure work aligns with approved designs, schedules, and safety requirements, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver on time and within budget. You’ll shape site logistics, quality assurance, and health and safety plans while maintaining rigorous project controls. This position offers impact at scale within a safety-sensitive environment and opportunities to drive efficient, compliant delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all on-site construction activities to meet designs, quality, schedule, and contractual requirements
• Supervise and coordinate construction teams and subcontractors for competence and performance
• Develop and apply QA, configuration management, and construction assurance processes including subcontractor deliverables
• Coordinate with project managers, commercial teams, project controls, designers, clients, facility managers and other stakeholders
• Provide accurate progress data and maintain construction logic and reporting in project systems (e.g., CEMAR)
• Prepare and approve pre-construction information and health and safety plans, safe systems of work, waste and environmental plans
• Plan site logistics including laydown areas, access routes, accommodation, parking, and plant/tools/materials
• Support communication, conflict resolution, testing and commissioning to ensure safe, on-time, within-budget delivery
• Ensure adherence to construction contracts and CDM Regulations and maintain awareness of health and safety management standards
• Maintain awareness of nuclear site licence requirements and engage with Integrated Project Team interfaces

Key requirements

• Active SC Clearance
• Significant senior construction management experience on major, complex, or highly regulated projects
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and CDM Regulations
• Experience with full project life-cycle delivery across multiple disciplines on major builds
• Knowledge of HSG 65 and associated health, safety management
• Experience working within an Integrated Project Team and coordinating multiple interfaces
• Nuclear new-build experience and knowledge of nuclear site licence requirements would be advantageous
• Experience with crane schemes on highly regulated sites would be beneficial
