Overview

In this role you will build and lead a growing employment law caseload within a proactive litigation team. You’ll advise on contentious and non-contentious matters, handle tribunal claims, and shape strategy for both employers and employees. The position offers hybrid flexibility after probation and opportunities to drive business development and expand the firm’s employment offering. You will collaborate cross-functionally, support marketing efforts, and help scale a key growth area in a supportive, award-winning firm.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a growing employment law caseload
  • Advise on contentious and non-contentious employment matters
  • Handle tribunal claims, settlements, and employee relations issues
  • Provide strategic advice to employers and employees
  • Drive business development to grow the employment practice
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the wider Litigation team
  • Spend at least three days per week in the Exeter office with hybrid after probation
  • Travel to other offices for client meetings and events as required
  • Contribute to firm marketing and BD initiatives
  • Shape and expand the employment offering using initiative

Key requirements

  • 3-5 years PQE (or more experienced if broadening into wider litigation)
  • Strong technical knowledge of employment law
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Proactive approach to business development and client relationships
  • Strong communication skills and commercial awareness
  • Confidence generating new work and developing referral networks
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and drive growth of the practice
  • Positive, collaborative and professional approach
  • Experience with business development or existing client following is a plus
