Development Technologist

Overview

In this Development Technologist role, you will lead dairy product development from concept through launch, guiding R&D activities within Müller’s Product Evolution Process. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to create innovative products that meet consumer and business goals, while ensuring quality, safety, nutrition, and compliance. The position blends hands-on recipe work, pilot plant trials, and scale-up support across UK sites. This is a chance to shape product innovation in a leading household brand.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise recipes while ensuring quality, safety, nutrition, and legal compliance
• Conceptualize and present new product ideas and run kitchen, pilot plant, and factory trials
• Manage product testing, shelf-life studies and maintain project documentation
• Support scale-up activities and product launches in collaboration with production teams
• Source and approve new ingredients, build supplier relationships, and manage briefs
• Contribute to project planning, risk management, costings, and stakeholder updates
• Ensure all development work complies with Müller standards and applicable legislation

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Food Science, Dairy Technology or related discipline
• Knowledge of dairy science, processing and nutrition
• Experience in food or dairy product development is desirable
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
• Creative mindset with passion for food innovation
• Effective communicator and team player able to manage multiple projects
• Willingness to travel to Müller sites and co-packers across the UK when required
