Overview

As Global Director, Engineering, you will shape the worldwide engineering function for Protective Coatings and Passive Fire Protection. You’ll drive technical excellence, innovation, and customer value across regions, partnering with Commercial, R&D, Product Management and Operations. You will define the global engineering vision, advance PFP capabilities, influence industry standards, and support complex infrastructure, industrial, marine and energy projects. The role combines strategy, technology, and leadership, offering a high-impact, global platform to leave a lasting legacy.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the global engineering strategy and roadmap for PFP and Protective Coatings
• Lead a global engineering organization across Americas, EMEAI, and APAC; oversee Global Fire Estimation & Engineering Team
• Establish operating models, service standards, prioritization, and resource deployment
• Lead PFP engineering capability, governance, testing strategies and technical tooling
• Shape global specification strategy; partner with Commercial and Marketing to position SW as a trusted technical partner
• Collaborate with R&D, Product Management, and Technical Service to define technology and innovation priorities
• Establish global technical governance, standards, quality, and risk management for engineering outputs
• Represent the company to external engineering firms, standards bodies, and industry groups; influence standards and practices

Key requirements

• Bachelor degree in Structural, Civil, Fire, Chemical, Materials Engineering or related discipline
• Significant experience leading engineering teams in structural fire engineering, passive fire protection, coatings, or related sectors
• Proven success building and leading high‑performing global teams
• Strong ability to influence project outcomes, specifications, customer decisions, and growth through engineering
• Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders including consultants, EPCs, fabricators, asset owners, regulators, and associations
• Deep understanding of fire engineering principles, PFP systems, and quality management
