In this role you lead DeepL’s Voice for Meetings engineering team, delivering real-time AI voice features that power professional collaboration. You’ll shape the technical direction, work closely with product and applied science leaders, and ensure high-quality, low-latency delivery. You’ll balance hands-on coding with people leadership to grow a senior team and influence product strategy. Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a small team of senior engineers, owning hiring, performance, and career development
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of real-time voice features from architecture to production
  • Own the technical direction for the team’s systems and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Collaborate closely with Principal Product Manager and senior technical lead to shape what gets built
  • Bridge engineering with applied science to understand inference, preprocessing, and data drift effects on the product
  • Make and communicate trade-offs under latency, model quality, and timeline constraints
  • Identify risks and gaps beyond scope and implement lasting fixes
  • Foster a high-agency, low-bureaucracy culture with ownership of outcomes

Key requirements

  • Managed engineers directly and owned a team’s delivery, performance, and development
  • Led product-facing engineering projects with real-time, distributed, or streaming systems
  • Ability to reason about architecture, failure modes, and make credible design judgments
  • Pragmatic understanding of ML systems in production: inference, preprocessing, data drift
  • Independent, proactive work style with strong product and commercial intuition
