Central Talent & Capacity Resource Manager Advisory

Overview

In this role you will lead resource planning within Grant Thornton’s advisory practice, ensuring optimal deployment of professionals across offices. You will partner with practice teams, IS, Training, Recruitment and Finance to forecast needs, manage budgets, and deliver data-driven resourcing insights. You’ll develop and coach a junior team, balance utilisation with people development, and help drive operational excellence. Responsibilities

• Drive resource strategy for the business unit across offices and operating units
• Forecast future resourcing needs based on pipeline and business plan
• Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to challenge and align on resourcing
• Engage with other teams (IS, Training and Development, Recruitment, Finance)
• Use a resource management system to manage deployment across the business
• Provide MI insights and data-driven decision support (including AI tools) to stakeholders
• Build strong relationships with engagement partners and directors to manage resourcing risk
• Coach and develop junior team members and share best practices in resourcing
• Balance utilisation with wellbeing and career progression of resources
• Ensure data accuracy and take ownership of resource allocation decisions
• Manage deployment of specialists locally and across business streams
• Maximise utilisation and optimise employment spend nationally
• Report on supply/demand across geographies and budgets for the unit
• Coach and develop team members through coaching and feedback
• Operate with integrity in line with organisational values
• Take ownership of data quality and escalate only when necessary
• Support timely administrative and MI reporting to the team

Key requirements

• Minimum five years’ experience in resource management in a professional services setting, especially advisory or consultancy
• Proven ability to work with stakeholders at all levels and drive resource strategy
• Experience managing budgets and leading/managing people
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and handle multiple tasks
• Excellent communication skills and capability to challenge senior stakeholders
• Experience with AI tools to enhance data, user experience and insight
• Strong analytical and data accuracy skills
• Proactive, solution-driven mindset with initiative to improve processes
• Ability to meet deadlines and SLAs without compromising data integrity
