Associate Mechanical Engineer

Overview

As Associate Director of Mechanical Design, you will lead diverse data centre projects across the EMEA region, steering technical excellence and project delivery. You’ll partner with multidisciplinary teams, applying advanced design methods while exercising financial judgment in a fast-paced, agile setting. You’ll champion QA/QC, drive cost optimization, and mentor engineers and consultants. This role offers remote work with EU travel, shaping high‑impact mechanical design in a growth‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve complex mechanical designs to ensure scope alignment
• Lead QA/QC to meet project deadlines
• Enhance project functionality and control costs
• Manage group resources and outsourcing strategies
• Train junior members and implement performance improvement plans
• Coordinate M&E collaboration and external communications
• Interpret contracts and support procurement and business development
• Provide strategic input to QA procedures and technology updates
• Oversee delivery of multiple large-scale capital projects

Key requirements

• 10 years of mechanical engineering experience in data centers or related high-tech facilities
• 3 years of people management experience
• 3 years of project management experience overseeing electrical and mechanical projects
• Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Engineering
• Chartered Engineer status is an advantage but not mandatory
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels and external partners
