Principal Engagement Consultant (South West)

Overview

In this role you contribute to shaping how major UK infrastructure projects connect with communities. You’ll join WSP’s Engagement team and advise on stakeholder engagement across water, health, energy, and environmental sectors. You drive meaningful communication, run engagement activities and events, and translate feedback into project insights. This is a frontline position that combines client advisory with cross‑disciplinary collaboration to deliver responsible, well‑communicated outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Draft and deliver stakeholder engagement strategies to support UK infrastructure delivery
• Create accessible communications to help communities understand project impacts
• Coordinate design and print processes and publish communications; organize events and surveys
• Interpret data to identify themes and issues; present feedback to shape project development
• Provide engagement advice and activities (virtual consultation rooms, posters, banners, maps) to clients across the UK and internationally
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver effective communication and engagement
• Manage projects to meet timelines, budgets, and resource needs

Key requirements

• Experience delivering communications and stakeholder engagement on complex infrastructure projects, ideally in a consultancy environment
• Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) with relevant experience in communications, engagement, or related advisory role
• Sector experience in transport, utilities, water, environment, or energy is desirable
