Senior Clinical Pharmacist IP – North East

Overview

In this role you lead clinical pharmacy activity within primary care settings to improve patient care and operational efficiency. You will mentor pharmacists and technicians, manage rotas and staffing, and drive governance and training programs. You work closely with the Head Office and PCNs to ensure high clinical standards and effective service delivery. This is a remote role based in the North East, offering a chance to shape practice-level medicines management and professional development at scale.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and line management to clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in PCNs/practices
• Maintain safe clinical rotas and manage staff logistics
• Participate in interviewing and recruitment support
• Train Trainee Technicians and track progress
• Write, approve and review policies, SOPs and training materials
• Attend senior meetings and implement actions
• Deliver staff training and signpost resources (MORPh, CPPE, RPS)
• Conduct monthly 1-2-1s and annual appraisals; assess competency
• Perform quality assurance reviews of consultations and provide feedback
• Support pharmacists with workload management and clinical queries
• Oversee PCN work streams and ensure holistic patient consultations
• Ensure adherence to high clinical standards and continuous development plans
• Audit practice work streams for medication-related improvements and safety
• Implement local/national guidelines and medication recommendations
• Support clinical governance, medicines safety, risk management
• Assist with revalidation and GPhC registration maintenance
• Maintain mandatory training and respond to feedback (complaints/investigations)
• Support recruitment and retention activities and local incentive/QOF requirements
