Overview

In this role you lead the UK Regions Property underwriting team within AIG’s Commercial Property unit in Manchester, driving growth and profitability of the regional portfolio. You will align regional activities with company strategies, nurture broker and client relationships, and ensure high-quality underwriting and service standards. You will balance technical underwriting with people leadership to deliver results across multiple offices. Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic objectives for Property across the Regions portfolio
  • Maintain consistency of offering across UK offices
  • Support and execute product growth strategy for UK Corporate Protect
  • Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships with key regional brokers
  • Optimise Property expertise, scale and deployment within UK Regions
  • Optimise team deployment to meet objectives and client/broker engagement models
  • Underwrite within agreed decision-making standards and authority
  • Provide guidance on underwriting issues and refer accounts within authority
  • Support timely reporting of financial performance (including estimates)
  • Manage day-to-day local UK Regions Property underwriting staff

Key requirements

  • Strong commercial property insurance background
  • Strong local market relationships and broker network
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; ACII advantageous
  • Significant property underwriting experience with focus on Middle Market Sector
  • Team leadership and management experience
  • Proven ability to lead client and broker negotiations
  • Strong ability to construct complex policy wordings
  • Multinational experience and knowledge of local markets/regulations desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills for stakeholders including claims and distribution
  • Understanding of legal/regulatory requirements and reinsurance concepts
  • Proven ability to build broker/client relationships
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
