Overview
As Director in AECOM Advisory, you will lead local government initiatives, drive new business, oversee engagement delivery, and shape practice development. You will engage with senior client stakeholders, manage multiple delivery teams, and ensure high-quality outcomes that meet client and firm standards. You will coach staff and contribute to thought leadership and performance improvement. This role sits in UK Advisory, within a global firm transforming communities through infrastructure excellence.

Responsibilities
- Drive business development by engaging networks and originating opportunities
- Lead engagement delivery and manage multiple delivery teams across varying models
- Oversee proposals, solutions architecture, pricing strategy, risk and compliance for engagements
- Provide client-facing leadership on delivery progress and insights, including C-suite interactions
- Coordinate inputs from peers and experts to address technical scope, client satisfaction, and commercial constraints
- Architect analytical workstreams and guide engagement teams
- Ensure timely quality assurance of scope, analyses and insights
- Drive practice development through performance appraisals, FP&A, and thought leadership
- Proactively coach and mentor staff
Key requirements
- Deep understanding of the local government sector and an extensive professional network
- Proven track record of winning work with local authorities or combined authorities
- Exceptional interpersonal and client-service mindset
- Strong ability to operate under pressure in a high-tempo, client-facing environment
- Self-directed, collaborative team player in a devolved and matrixed organization
- Excellent verbal communication and narrative development skills for senior audiences
- Strong commercial acumen with enterprise-focused perspective
- Domain expertise in: corporate/enterprise strategy, market analysis, operating models, organisational assessment, business transformation, corporate finance, assets and capital projects advisory, and economic development
- Bachelor’s degree
