In this role you will lead growth for Zurich’s mid-market retail portfolios, combining deep underwriting expertise with strategic development. You will build senior broker and client relationships to win new business and strengthen Zurich’s market presence. You’ll own complex, high-value risks and shape market-leading propositions through insight into trends and regulation. The role blends technical analysis with commercial leadership and mentoring to drive profitable outcomes. Responsibilities

• Lead identification, development, and conversion of high-value mid-market retail opportunities to position Zurich as the underwriter of choice.
• Build and leverage senior relationships with brokers, clients, and industry stakeholders to grow business and presence.
• Own complex, high-value risks with bespoke solutions and commercial, profitable decision-making.
• Monitor and respond to market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to inform market-leading propositions.
• Coach and support regional teams, share specialist knowledge, and foster collaboration and continuous improvement to drive commercial success.

Key requirements

• Significant experience in mid-market retail insurance underwriting with a proven track record in business development and portfolio growth.
• Advanced technical and analytical skills for assessing and structuring complex risks.
• Proven ability to engage, influence, and negotiate with senior brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Strategic, commercially minded approach with focus on innovation and results.
• Experience mentoring others or leading team development is highly desirable.
