Active Travel Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design highways following standards such as Local Highway Authority guidance, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, DMRB, and NRSWA
• Design drainage systems per Sewerage Sector Guidance, Code for Adoption Agreements, and The SuDS Manual (CIRIA C753)
• Design public realm, active travel and cycling infrastructure, major highways, and coordinate utilities
• Gain site monitoring experience and assist in fee proposals and bids
• liaise and negotiate with highway and planning authorities to agree proposed designs
• Coordinate highway and drainage adoption processes and S278, S38, and S104 agreements
• Produce technical reports and attend meetings with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other statutory bodies

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) with relevant experience
• Working towards or holding incorporated or chartered status
• Experience in design of commercial and residential developments, including infrastructure, external works, and drainage
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D, Causeway Flow (or InfoDrainage), Vehicle Tracking, and KeyLINES/SIGN/POST
• Solid knowledge of national design standards and local authority/Highways processes
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Good time management and organisational abilities; capable of delivering to schedule and budget
