Technology Underwriter

Overview

As Technology Underwriter, you will help grow Markel’s Tech and Cyber capabilities within PFR, serving a diverse portfolio across international and US-domiciled risks. You will shape broker-facing strategy, contribute to product innovation, and deepen client partnerships to deliver tailored tech solutions. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to refine products and expand multinational capacity, driving quality underwriting and strong market presence. This role offers growth in a flexible platform within a Fortune 500 insurer that prizes people and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage key Tech broker relationships and pipelines
• Contribute to product development and refinement based on market needs
• Analyze competitors’ offerings and share insights with the team
• Enhance customer offering and experience through proactive solutions
• Lead renewal book management in line with appetite and targets
• Market Markel’s Tech offering and maintain industry presence
• Underwrite new and renewal risks using technical rating models
• Identify new distribution and Delegated/Coverholder opportunities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product-related initiatives
• Stay informed on tech package product development to inform strategy

Key requirements

• Experience underwriting or broking within Technology and Cyber
• Strong technical knowledge in Technology and Cyber lines
• Excellent relationships within the Technology broker market
• Property & Casualty underwriting experience is beneficial
• Multinational placement experience beneficial
