Registered Manager – Home 1

Overview

You will lead a newly established residential home for children in care, ensuring high-quality, compliant care from day one. As the first Registered Manager, you shape the service design, recruit and develop the team, and establish governance alongside the broader programme. You will collaborate with partner agencies and contribute to planning and case reviews, driving a child-centred, safeguarding-focused approach. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to set the standard for multiple homes within the council’s Sufficiency Strategy and influence wider service development. Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and overall management of the home to meet standards and regulations
• Develop staffing rota, recruit in line with safe recruitment practices, supervise staff with regular PDRs and training
• Create and implement the home’s service plan, manage budget, and maintain records
• Represent the service in internal/external settings and build relationships with agencies and the local community
• Participate in planning meetings and case reviews, chair them when needed, and prepare reports
• Report to the Service Manager for the residential portfolio and influence the wider service development

Key requirements

• Substantial experience in a social care setting with children/young people, including management in residential care
• Experience managing staff, supervising and managing budgets
• Experience partnering with other agencies, children, young people and parents
• Experience managing organisational change
• Sound knowledge of the SCCIF, national policy on looked after children, and Ofsted requirements for residential care
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, and of children and young people’s developmental and emotional needs
