Overview
In this role you will lead the 2LoD oversight of Citi’s electronic and algorithmic trading risk, shaping a unified risk framework across the enterprise. You will influence senior leaders, collaborate across risk, compliance, and technology, and translate complex risks into clear executive messages. You will drive continuous risk assessment of E-Trading implementations and lead a global team of risk professionals. You will engage regulators as the principal 2LoD representative and advance analytics and controls using AI/ML and automation.
Responsibilities
- Govern and refine a unified E-Trading risk framework with ICRM across risk stripes
- Own and continuously improve E-Trading risk policies and standards
- Influence senior leaders to enhance risk management globally
- Distill complex E-Trading risks into concise messages for C-suite and Board
- Oversee ongoing 2LoD assessments of E-Trading implementations and controls
- Direct and develop a global E-Trading risk team
- Serve as the primary 2LoD representative for E-Trading risk with regulators
- Provide independent challenge on pre-/post-trade controls, kill-switch standards, and system implementations
- Assess development, testing, and deployment of E-Trading systems and automated controls
- Review incidents, root causes, and trends with ICRM for potential conduct issues
- Drive the strategic roadmap for E-Trading risk analytics, KRIs, real-time monitoring, and reporting
- Identify emerging E-Trading risks from AI, ML, and cloud platforms and update policy
Key requirements
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to distill concepts for senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence and credibly challenge MDs and senior Business Heads
- Strong track record building consensus across risk, compliance, business and technology teams
- 10–15+ years in financial services with focus on electronic/algorithmic trading or trading risk management
- Demonstrated leadership of highly technical risk or quantitative teams in a global setting
- Multi-asset knowledge (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Commodities) and automated execution platforms
- Solid understanding of electronic trading system architecture, market data, order routing, matching engines, and pre-/post-trade controls
- Familiarity with system design, QA, change management, data governance, time-stamping, and operational resilience; programming/quant modeling understanding
- Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks governing electronic and algorithmic trading
- Extensive experience with risk governance committees and interaction with auditors/regulators
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field
