Associate Software Engineer (Back End)

Overview

In this Back-End Engineer role, you design, build, and maintain high-performance server-side applications and APIs for data-intensive environments. You collaborate with architects, engineers, and traders to deliver mission-critical systems with reliability and scalability. You will drive architectural rigor while enabling rapid delivery and continuous improvement. The opportunity centers on shaping resilient, cloud-native back-end platforms that support front-office trading and data solutions at TP ICAP.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and review mission-critical, high-performance systems end-to-end with Architects, Principal Engineers, and Trading SMEs
• Contribute to the full software lifecycle ensuring performance, scalability, resilience and best practices
• Lead innovation through POCs, evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Communicate progress, manage risks, and remove delivery impediments

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience building and supporting enterprise latency-sensitive systems
• Background in designing and maintaining distributed, event-driven, cloud-native applications
• SDLC experience across design, development, QA, deployment, and production support
• Ability to balance rapid delivery with architectural rigor and long-term maintainability
• Relational database design and optimization (MSSQL, MySQL)
• Experience building automated testing frameworks for complex distributed systems
• Ability to engage effectively with traders, quants, and business stakeholders
