Senior Machine Learning Scientist

Overview

As a member of Intercom’s Machine Learning team, you define value-driven ML features, prototype algorithms, and bring models into production to impact customer support. You work closely with Product and Design to shape products and rapidly validate ideas. You’ll experiment with cutting-edge techniques and measure real customer impact, contributing to a product-focused ML platform. This role offers exposure to scale, surface transformation opportunities, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify ML opportunities that create customer value
• Frame product problems for ML solutions
• Collaborate with Product and Design stakeholders
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and research
• Evaluate algorithms offline and plan production deployment
• Partner with engineers to ship prototypes to production
• Socialize learnings to drive iteration
• Collaborate with the team to build high-quality ML products

Key requirements

• Broad applied machine learning knowledge
• 3-5 years applied ML experience
• Practical statistics knowledge (experimental design, confounding)
• Intermediate programming skills
• Strong communication within engineering and cross-functional teams
• Comfort with ambiguity
• Typically MSc or higher in ML or related field
• Scientific thinking skills
