Managing Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this senior role you will lead the commercial function across major building projects in the South East. You’ll steer financial performance, risk management, and value delivery, working with operations and leadership to maximise margin. You will mentor a commercial team and shape procurement strategies to optimise value and risk. This is a high-autonomy position with influence over project and business unit outcomes. Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of major projects or an active portfolio to ensure financial success
• Oversee cost planning, forecasting, valuations, variations, and final account negotiations
• Provide leadership and development for the commercial team
• Drive procurement strategy and subcontractor management to achieve best value and mitigate risk
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to influence commercial strategy and project outcomes

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in quantity surveying and commercial management on major projects
• Strong leadership experience, including managing commercial teams
• In-depth knowledge of standard forms of contract and construction commercial processes
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with a proven track record of protecting margin
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
• Professional membership (e.g. RICS) is highly desirable
