Associate Renewable Energy Design Engineer

Overview

Join Stantec’s growing Renewable Energy Advisory team as an Associate Engineer. You’ll lead FEED, IE, OE, and TA assignments across wind, solar, and energy storage projects, from concept through construction and financial close. You’ll work with developers, lenders, EPCs, and internal teams to deliver technically robust, risk-aware advisory outputs. This is a client-facing, leadership-oriented role in a collaborative, early-stage team with a strong project pipeline. You will help shape service offerings and contribute to sustainable energy delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of FEED, IE, OE, and TA assignments across project lifecycles
• Manage delivery for project finance, tax equity, sales, and acquisition mandates
• Review technical, commercial, and financial documents (contracts, schedules, CAPEX/OPEX)
• Conduct site visits, construction monitoring, and witness testing
• Identify risks, manage schedules and deliverables across multiple projects
• Produce high-quality technical advisory reports with risks and recommendations
• Support contract administration, variations, and claims for clients
• Lead client and stakeholder meetings with developers, lenders, EPCs, investors, and internal teams
• Lead Pre-FEED and FEED design teams for wind, solar, and BESS projects
• Lead Owners Engineering service delivery
• Provide business development support leveraging existing network

Key requirements

• 5+ years in renewable energy (IE/OE/TA, development, construction, O&M, or M&A)
• Experience supporting projects through financial close with lenders or investors
• Strong understanding of project delivery, contracts, and risk management
• Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or related field
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently
