Underwriting Auditor

Overview

In this role, you provide underwriting audit support to Corporate Underwriting (CU) leadership, primarily for UK Regional units, and possibly London Market as needed. You assess the effectiveness of underwriting processes, reporting findings to senior leadership and supporting improvements in controls. You collaborate with Compliance, Internal Audit and Claims to coordinate audits and strengthen documentation and guidance. You work with cross-functional teams to deliver objective evaluations that drive better underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in underwriting audits/reviews of Arch Insurance business units and delegated authority programs, including scheduling and account selection
• Perform underwriting file reviews to ensure adherence to corporate and BU rules, including documentation, account analysis/selection, and pricing tool usage
• Assist, and where necessary lead, collecting, processing and summarising audit information and identifying trends
• Identify trends in business units to scope audits based on relative risks
• Co-ordinate audits with Compliance, Internal Audit, and Claims to support the audit process
• Assist in planning and implementing underwriting controls and appropriate documentation

Key requirements

• 10+ years underwriting or claims experience in UK Regional Property or Casualty underwriting
• Experience with other lines and underwriting audit experience is beneficial but not essential
• Strong business and technical underwriting acumen with high attention to detail
• Sound independent judgment

• Demonstrated ability to work across interdisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams
