Overview
In this role you craft expressive character and creature animation to support Frontier’s storytelling in immersive game worlds. You’ll work closely with cross-disciplinary teams and report to the Lead Animator and Game Director to realise the creative vision. You’ll implement animations into the Cobra engine, contribute to a culture of feedback, and help maintain quality and workflow efficiency. This position offers hybrid or in-studio work with relocation support and a focus on impactful, player-centric experiences.

Responsibilities
- Create high-quality character and creature animations in Maya
- Implement animations into Cobra engine
- Collaborate with Character Art, Code, Design, and VFX teams
- Take direction from Lead Animator and Game Director to realise vision
- Contribute to feedback culture and continuous improvement
- Solve production challenges with creative/technical solutions
- Maintain task tracking and asset validation to minimise bugs
- Provide feedback to external development partners
- Support junior team members and share knowledge
Key requirements
- Proven experience producing high-quality animation assets
- Strong proficiency in Maya’s character animation tools
- Excellent understanding of body mechanics, posing, timing, and acting choices
- Experience with creature animation and believable movement
- Familiarity with animation state machines
- Understanding of versioning software (SVN, Perforce)
- Strong time management and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of rigging pipelines
