Senior Associate, Financial Analysis

Overview

In Ofcom’s Economics and Analytics Group, you will help develop and operate the Online Safety fees regime, providing financial analysis to enforcement and regulatory activities. You will build financial models, analyse datasets, and present evidence to support regulatory decisions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust financial governance. This role offers exposure to high-impact regulatory work shaping online safety in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with economists, policy professionals, lawyers and technologists across Ofcom to support regulatory work
• Support operation and development of the Online Safety fees regime: review submissions, assess revenues, support fee calculations, invoicing and cost recovery
• Perform financial analysis and reconciliations using statutory accounts and management information; identify anomalies and risks
• Produce management information, revenue reporting and insights to monitor fee regime performance
• Conduct financial analysis to support compliance assessments, investigations and enforcement activity
• Prepare and present robust financial evidence to support regulatory decisions and information requests
• Develop and maintain financial models for revenue assessments, forecasting and scenario analysis
• Gather and interpret complex financial datasets to deliver evidence-based insights
• Build relationships with multidisciplinary teams and external organisations to strengthen financial governance

Key requirements

• Strong financial analysis, accounting or financial reporting experience
• Experience reviewing statutory accounts, financial statements and disclosures
• Experience developing and maintaining financial models and analytical tools
• Strong Excel skills and experience with large datasets
• Experience preparing concise, evidence-based recommendations for senior stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and analytical rigour
• Desirable: experience in regulator/government/professional services, forensic accounting, audit, investigations or compliance
• Desirable: familiarity with digital platforms and technology markets
• Desirable: experience with Power BI, R, Python or other analytical tools
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience
