Fire Suppression Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you design fire suppression systems (water mist, sprinklers, dry/wet risers, hose reels, hydrants) based on site surveys or drawings. You will work across Hethel, Birmingham or Manchester in a hybrid setup with UK travel, collaborating with Sales, Estimating and Delivery teams to support project delivery. You drive compliant, timely design packages and risk assessments while ensuring commercial viability. This is a hands-on engineering position shaping safer buildings through precise design and cross-functional coordination. You will be part of a collaborative, growth‑oriented team.

Responsibilities

• Design fire suppression systems (HP/LP Water Mist, Sprinklers, Dry/Wet Risers, Hose Reels, Hydrants)
• Conduct site surveys and create compliant designs
• Manage day-to-day design issues with clients, M&E teams, Fire Consultants, Installers, Authorities, and Insurers
• Ensure commercial viability and timely delivery of design packages
• Complete Design Risk Assessments and ensure all design variations meet customer and regulatory standards
• Work closely with Sales and Contracts to ensure smooth project handover and completion

Key requirements

• Knowledge of LPC Rules BS EN 12845, BS 9251, NFPA, FM Global
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (3D skills a plus)
• Ability to produce hydraulic calculations and drawings
• Full UK driving licence, willingness to travel
• Strong organisational, written, and verbal communication skills
