As an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer, you will shape control system hardware for high-profile industrial clients, applying latest engineering standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver electrical solutions such as panels and MCCs, supporting site surveys, testing, and commissioning. The role focuses on safe, cost-conscious design that meets client specs and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Design electrical hardware solutions (control panels, MCCs, system layouts) to meet client specs and standards
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, cable schedules, and layouts using CAD
- Collaborate with project managers, software engineers, and on-site teams for seamless delivery
- Select electrical components considering safety, functionality, and cost
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to inform designs
- Ensure designs comply with health & safety regulations and standards (BS7671, EN60204-1)
- Support workshop build, panel testing, and commissioning as needed
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and client meetings; provide clear technical updates
- Assist in problem-solving during manufacturing and installation
- Contribute to design modifications during manufacturing and installation
Key requirements
- Experience in electrical hardware design in industrial automation, process, or manufacturing environments
- Proficiency with CAD (EPLAN essential; AutoCAD desirable)
- Knowledge of electrical protection, circuit design, and industrial control systems (PLCs, SCADA)
- Understanding of BS7671 and EN60204-1 electrical standards
- HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong organisational skills and proactive problem-solving
- Excellent communication and teamwork across levels
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
