Project Planner

Overview

In this role you will partner with the Program Manager and leads to develop and maintain project plans across programs. You will ensure a clear hierarchy and appropriate granularity for effective control and reporting, while aligning dependencies and risk management with the project baseline. You will surface progress to stakeholders and help transition plans into the Project Portfolio Management environment. This position supports Saab UK’s mission to enable safe, advanced defence capabilities through structured planning and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a hierarchical plan structure from Program to Work Package level
• Define schedule granularity for each work package to enable control and reporting
• Reflect dependencies between work packages in the delivery schedule
• Standardize the format of project plans across the project
• Provide progress-versus-plan reporting for team members, Program Manager and Steering Groups
• Explain variances from baseline plan and support risk and issue management
• Assist in transitioning project plans to a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool

Key requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in New Product Development (NPD) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, Jira and Excel
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems
• Experience with a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool
• Project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince2, PMI) preferred
