Senior Town Planner

Overview

In this role you will drive planning-led site acquisitions for a privately owned developer in London. You will manage planning permissions for schemes ranging from 10 to 80 units, guiding complex planning processes to successful outcomes. The role combines site evaluation with pro-map sketching to support planning arguments and overcome local authority challenges. You will work within a growing team, contributing to a clear expansion path and increased project throughput. This is an opportunity to shape a developing pipeline and play a key role in delivering high-density residential projects at scale.

Responsibilities

• Identify and secure planning permissions for multi-unit sites (10–80 units) in London
• Lead the planning process through local authority negotiations and conditions
• Prepare and present planning arguments, including sketching with pro-map
• Assess site viability post-acquisition and guide schemes to profitable outcomes either by flip or build-out
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive development pipeline and attend design reviews
• Mitigate planning risks by developing robust planning angles to pass through approval processes

Key requirements

• Planer by trade with substantial experience in planning approvals
• Senior level planning experience in property development
• Proficient in sketching using pro-map or similar tools
• Strong understanding of UK planning policy and local authority processes
• Ability to manage multiple sites and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
