SEND Legal Resolution Coordinator

Overview

In this role you will lead tribunals, mediations and disagreement resolution within Coventry’s SEND service. You will collaborate with SEND colleagues, the Council’s Legal team and other stakeholders to resolve disagreements early and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The position emphasizes a person-centred approach and values-based, inclusive practice within the Coventry One framework. This is an opportunity to influence statutory processes and contribute to a high-impact service for families and schools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage tribunals, mediations and disagreement resolution within the service
• Attend mediations, JADRs and associated Tribunal hearings
• Work with SEND colleagues, the Council’s Legal team and diverse stakeholders to resolve disagreements early
• Focus on improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND
• Demonstrate a person-centred approach in engagements with families and young people

Key requirements

• Experience as a SEND practitioner with knowledge of the SEND Legal Framework
• Working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2014, SEND Regulations, Equality Act 2010, and SENDIST Tribunal process
• Significant experience resolving disagreements via mediation, disagreement resolution and tribunals
• Strong literacy and communication skills; ability to prioritise in a busy environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with families, schools, health and social care
• Right to Work in the UK; DBS clearance
