Construction Manager

Overview

In this role you drive construction delivery across multiple sites, ensuring on-time, on-budget completion while upholding safety and quality. You lead site teams, coordinate with cross-functional groups, and manage risks to meet contractual obligations. You’ll influence construction strategy for new developments and maintain strong stakeholder relationships. This is a hands-on leadership position within a values-driven, collaborative builder focused on sustainable communities.

Responsibilities

• Manage site teams to hit performance targets and align with business objectives
• Contribute to construction strategy reviews for new developments
• Ensure safety, health and environmental compliance across all sites
• Monitor progress, mitigate delays, and report regional progress
• Participate in CVR meetings to ensure budgets and timelines
• Ensure timely deliverables and accurate progress records
• Visit sites regularly to support teams and ensure compliance
• Foster relationships with external stakeholders like NHBC and monitor timelines and budgets
• Oversee customer service training, monitor quality for handovers and customer satisfaction
• Assist with subcontractor vetting and ensure compliance with standards
• Develop and monitor construction programs coordinating with technical and commercial teams
• Ensure high site presentation standards and oversee recruitment, appraisals and employee development
• Manage performance issues and maintain a harassment-free environment

Key requirements

• Previous experience as Project Manager or Senior Site Manager for a high-volume house builder
• Up-to-date SHE obligations and building legislation knowledge
• Proven ability to motivate and manage a team
• Ability to balance big-picture view with site-level decisions
• Decision-making with pragmatic problem solving and resilience
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain accuracy
• Experience with senior management and cross-functional collaboration
• Demonstrable career progression in construction
• SMSTS
• ONC or HNC in Building Construction or NVQ Level 4/5 or similar
