Staff Engineer, Continuous Improvement

Overview

In this role you drive the operations strategy at Kohler Mira, focusing on safer, more efficient and higher-quality manufacturing. You’ll partner with production teams and support functions to deliver improvements, cost reductions and on-time commitments. You’ll lead deployment of new manufacturing systems and mentor engineers, shaping current operations and future evolution. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on product performance and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of new manufacturing systems, assembly automation and equipment on time, within budget, with top safety and quality standards
• Use data trends to identify improvement initiatives and drive actions to hit SQDCP metrics
• Coach and mentor engineers and production technicians in best practices and problem solving
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, safety, supply chain and product development on problem solving and capital projects
• Own problem solving, identify root causes and implement timely solutions
• Ensure process controls and documentation meet business requirements and ISO9001
• Identify hazards via risk assessment and implement measures toward zero injuries
• Support Continuous Improvement Strategy using Lean tools to hit facility efficiency and cost goals
• Implement projects that are sustainable and compliant with EHS
• Communicate project status clearly to all levels of the organisation

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or completed engineering apprenticeship
• Experience in an assembly and test environment
• Formal qualification in Six Sigma, project management and/or lean tools would be beneficial
• Experience with automated assembly equipment and OEE would be beneficial
• Effective communication with all levels of the organisation
• Self-motivation with structured project management approach
• Tenacious, enthusiastic, results-driven with strong time management
• Structured, organised; able to work solo, in a team, or lead a team
• Drive adoption of best practices across the division and build relationships with leadership and process owners
• IT literate, Microsoft applications
