Overview

In this Practice Manager role, you lead the day-to-day operations of the Apples Medical Centre to ensure smooth, patient-centred care. You will partner with GP Partners to support strategic planning, development, and financial stewardship while maintaining regulatory compliance. You’ll drive continuous improvement across clinical and non-clinical teams and foster a positive work environment. This is a hands-on leadership position at a friendly, patient-focused practice with a commitment to staff wellbeing and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the practice and manage the management team
  • Support and develop non-clinical and clinical teams
  • Oversee HR processes including recruitment, induction, performance management and staff wellbeing
  • Monitor performance against QoF targets, regulatory requirements, and service standards
  • Ensure compliance with CQC, information governance, health and safety, and data protection
  • Collaborate with GP Partners on strategic planning and business development
  • Manage practice finances with Partners and external accountants
  • Liaise with PCN, ICB and external organisations
  • Promote continuous improvement and patient care excellence

Key requirements

  • Managing, supervising and developing staff including recruitment and performance management
  • Experience in day-to-day operations, policy implementation, and service improvement
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, staff, clinicians and external organisations
  • Desirable: prior Practice Manager/Operations/Business Manager experience in general practice
  • Knowledge of NHS contracts, PCNs, ICBs and NHS policies
  • Experience with SystmOne and Teamnet; familiarity with clinical/practice systems
  • Experience with CQC requirements and regulatory inspections
  • Ability to lead, motivate and foster a positive working culture
