Managing Quantity Surveyor/ Commercial Manager – London

Overview

In this role you lead the commercial function on a high-value rail project in Central London, guiding the commercial team and ensuring robust governance. You will work with the Employers’ and Project Commercial teams to manage valuations, reporting, and contract compliance within NEC/NR frameworks. The position offers progression as the project timeline and UK rail workload grow, with immediate interview opportunities. You will partner with senior leadership to deliver commercial excellence across multi-discipline rail works.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the commercial team to build capability and succession plans
• Coordinate with Employers’ commercial team and ensure timely valuations and reports
• Implement and uphold commercial procedures aligned with contracts and company policy
• Collaborate with the Project Commercial Director to maintain consistent commercial approach
• Maintain commercial records and manage contractual issues throughout the project
• Provide commercial advice to Senior Management and oversee cost control, KPI reporting, and supply chain administration

Key requirements

• Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related subject
• Extensive experience delivering large multi-discipline rail projects in a main contracting environment
• MRICS qualification
• Experience managing a team of quantity surveyors
• Strong knowledge of NEC and NR contract forms
