Principal Occupational Hygiene Consultant

Overview

In this role you lead and grow WSP’s Occupational Hygiene and Hazmat capability in Western Australia, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and guiding complex projects. You’ll mentor multidisciplinary teams, work with cross-functional groups to deliver integrated solutions, and help shape market positioning and service innovation. The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and business development within a global environmental consulting context. You will drive impactful outcomes across infrastructure, resources, and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, building long-term relationships and identifying new opportunities
• Oversee scope and progress of multiple projects of varying complexity
• Provide strategic technical input on major infrastructure, resources, and industrial projects
• Mentor and develop team members across the national network
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Contribute to market positioning, thought leadership, and service innovation
• Lead compliance with legislation, standards, guidelines and project specifications

Key requirements

• Degree in environmental science, engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related discipline
• 10+ years’ relevant experience in consulting
• NATA Accreditation
• Competence in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards
• Experience with asbestos and SMF awareness and laboratory analysis
• Ability to statistically process and analyse data
• Experience in airborne fibre analysis (fibre counting) and air sampling equipment
• Experience in business development and delivering client outcomes that save costs/time
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects
• Excellent communication with clients, regulators, and stakeholders
• Driver’s license (unrestricted, manual preferred)
