Senior Cost Consultant – Infrastructure Projects

Overview

In this role, you will lead cost management for major UK rail, highway and aviation programmes within Arcadis’ Mobility Commercial Management team. You’ll work closely with contractors and client teams, delivering accurate cost plans, budgets and financial reports to support project delivery. You will analyse complex commercial data to identify risks and opportunities, while mentoring junior colleagues and ensuring governance and contractual obligations are met. This is a hands-on, site‑based position focused on delivering value and strong client relationships in a multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities

• Lead cost management activities across small to medium‑sized schemes or defined packages within larger programmes
• Prepare, manage and present cost plans, budgets, estimates and financial reports
• Review and analyse complex commercial data to identify risks, opportunities and trends with clear recommendations
• Coach and develop junior team members to sustain high delivery standards
• Track budgets, monitor expenditure and variances within established governance and financial systems
• Advise on risk management, compliance and assurance, ensuring contractual obligations are met
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote best practice across projects
• Engage with clients to provide updates, resolve issues and identify opportunities to strengthen relationships

Key requirements

• Minimum 8 years of cost management experience across Rail, Highway, Aviation or broader infrastructure
• Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts and compensation events
• Mentoring and leadership experience with junior colleagues
• Strong stakeholder management with clients, contractors and external partners
• Ability to manage work packages independently through to completion
• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or equivalent
• Relevant professional qualification or chartered status (e.g. RICS)
• CSCS card holder or willingness to obtain
