Overview
In this role you will support a key institutional client in oil and gas, advising on bespoke and standard-form construction contracts while coordinating with in-house teams. You will deliver pragmatic, time-sensitive contract solutions on Gulf projects and help grow the firm’s regional construction practice. You’ll mentor juniors, contribute to thought leadership, and engage in business development to strengthen client relationships. This is a cross-border, client-focused opportunity with a focus on impactful contract strategy and risk management.

Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and prepare construction contract documents (FIDIC and related forms)
- Provide strategic contract advisory on live Gulf projects, including risk identification and interpretation of provisions
- Coordinate with in-house legal and project management to align with commercial/operational goals
- Mentor trainees and paralegals within the team
- Contribute to thought leadership via research, client briefings and publications
- Develop and maintain client relationships and participate in marketing initiatives
- Deliver client training seminars and presentations
Key requirements
- Qualified lawyer, 5-8 PQE
- Degree in law from a recognised university (minimum 2:1)
- Experience advising on life cycle of major construction and infrastructure projects
- Experience drafting, risk reviewing and negotiating construction contracts (bespoke or standard forms) including FIDIC
- Fluent English
- Strong drafting, negotiation, organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritise under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
