Construction Associate Director – Bristol

Overview

In this senior Bristol role you support the energy and energy transition practice within a leading national law firm, handling complex non-contentious construction matters. You will steer negotiations and client engagements across renewables, energy storage, wind and grid projects, collaborating with regulatory, planning, real estate and project finance teams. The position offers exposure to national-scale energy infrastructure work and a clear path to develop your specialist practice. You will shape outcomes for major developers, funders and operators.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and negotiating EPC, BOP, supply and O&M contracts for renewables, energy storage, wind and grid projects
• Leading negotiation meetings and coordinating with junior colleagues
• Managing client stakeholders throughout negotiations
• Providing procurement advice and legal project management
• Advising on FIDIC, NEC and bespoke construction agreements
• Collaborating with energy regulation, planning, real estate and project finance teams
• Supporting delivery and operation phases including contract management, variations and defects
• Contributing to national-scale energy and infrastructure project teams

Key requirements

• Significant experience managing complex non-contentious construction matters
• Strong experience negotiating FIDIC, NEC, EPC and O&M agreements
• Confidence leading negotiations and supervising junior lawyers
• Experience on multi-party matters, particularly project finance structures
• High motivation and genuine interest in energy, renewables and infrastructure
