Construction Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead on-site construction activities from mobilization to close-out, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule alignment while meeting commercial expectations. You will act as the on-site owner, coordinating with the project team, subcontractors, and client representatives to identify risks, secure information and approvals, and drive delivery. You’ll provide clear leadership, manage progress, escalate issues, and ensure the workforce and plans align with the project requirements. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role in a safety-critical, high-value sector with opportunities to shape delivery through robust planning and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver construction activities ensuring safety, quality and programme adherence
• Provide on-site leadership and ownership from mobilisation through handover and close-out
• Coordinate with design, commissioning, and project teams to ensure constructability and timely information
• Engage with quality, planning and project teams to develop robust construction plans
• Review progress and supervision quality, adjusting resource and schedules as needed
• Understand trade agreements, allowances and labour cost structures; determine labour requirements
• Ensure a fully SQEP’d workforce and effective resource loading to control costs and hours
• Manage look-ahead schedules to balance workload and resources

Key requirements

• Experience in on-site construction management with strong leadership and coordination
• Knowledge of management systems, standard processes, and IMS delivery
• Understanding of NAECI and BESA, and IR relations with trade unions
• Digital field management experience (Dalux or equivalent) and evidence-based reporting
• Understanding of manufacturing operations and component traceability
• Experience with planning, productivity control, and programme alignment
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and change/compensation event discipline (desirable)
• DfMA off-site manufacturing knowledge and HVAC/ductwork familiarity (desirable)
