Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you support delivery of pre- and post-contract commercial services on large UK infrastructure projects, combining cost control with contract administration. You will work within a cost management team to ensure high-quality service, write client-ready reports, and help mentor junior staff. The position offers opportunity to work on high-profile projects, develop technical and leadership capabilities, and potentially advance to senior roles. You will engage with cross-functional teams and contribute to the firm’s growth and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-contract and post-contract commercial services on large UK infrastructure/rail projects
• Administer or audit NEC4 / NR / FIDIC contracts
• Work within a project delivery team and contribute to successful client outcomes
• Prepare professional reports, analyse information, and structure evaluations and recommendations
• Lead commissions to maintain high standards of service in fast-moving environments
• Mentor junior staff and support bids for new work
• Support knowledge sharing and development across projects
• Contribute to the wider team and firm growth with a proactive approach

Key requirements

• Professional institution membership (RICS, ICE, etc) or evidence of working towards a recognised professional qualification
• Commercial Management and/or Quantity Surveying experience on UK civil engineering/construction projects
• Experience in cost verification and/or cost audit for rail/transport infrastructure projects (ideally)
• Strong technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills
• Well-organised, proactive, assertive, disciplined, and commercially astute
• Ability to obtain security clearance
• Experience with delivering in a team and mentoring junior staff
• Experience supporting bids for new work
