In this Technical lead role with HMRC Valuation Office, you will guide complex NDR casework and provide expert valuation advice across the network. You will lead central discussions, coordinate valuation teams, and support the Revaluation Programme. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to ensure robust, evidence-based decisions and mentor colleagues through professional development. Responsibilities

• Deliver complex NDR casework with defined national classes, ensuring robust, evidence-based valuations
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to NVU caseworkers and wider Valuation Office colleagues
• Lead Group Pre Challenge Review (GPCR) schemes and central discussions
• Provide overall leadership of Class Co-ordination Teams (CCTs)
• Support and drive delivery of the Revaluation Programme, including evidence gathering and drafting Practice Notes
• Undertake peer review and assurance on high-risk or high-profile valuations
• Provide expert witness and advocacy in complex litigation at various tribunals
• Act as counsellor/supervisor to colleagues pursuing professional qualifications
• Maintain and develop specialist knowledge to promote consistent valuation practice

Key requirements

• MRICS/FRICS or IRRV (hons) in valuation or real estate pathway
• Significant experience delivering complex valuation casework
• Advanced technical expertise in Non-Domestic Rating and valuation practice
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop others
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Excellent communication skills for Tribunal presentations
• Strong analytical skills for evidence evaluation and robust conclusions
• Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
• Proven ability to apply legislation and case law to inform decisions
