Manager Research Analyst

Overview

As a Manager Research Analyst, you will conduct original qualitative and quantitative research on third-party fund managers, focusing on equity strategies. You’ll support Investment Committee decisions through due diligence, monitoring, and presenting your findings. You collaborate across Schroders’ investment teams, engaging with fund houses on ESG and stewardship. Your work shapes manager selections and contributes to multi-asset solutions and client-focused investment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Be the named analyst responsible for funds under your coverage
• Monitor existing holdings and produce written research
• Research potential replacements or additions based on portfolio manager briefs
• Update stakeholders on fund/manager/strategy developments
• Lead face-to-face meetings with fund managers and prepare thoroughly
• Create contact notes and opinions in the central research database
• Analyse ESG integration and engage with funds to improve ESG practices
• Provide peer review as a member of the Manager Selection Investment Committee
• Assist in running the investment committee
• Maintain data quality on funds with external data teams
• Represent manager research to clients and prospects as required
• Collaborate across the Schroder group

Key requirements

• Experience evaluating and monitoring third party managers via desk-based research and interviews
• Ability to express independent opinions with analysis of strengths and weaknesses
• Knowledge of the fund/manager universe
• Knowledge of ESG practices
• Curiosity and willingness to grow in investment fields
• Ability to work independently while maintaining team collaboration
• Excellent written and presentation skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong organisational skills and diligence
• Strong communication skills
• Willingness to challenge colleagues constructively and accept feedback
• Experience with analytical tools such as Morningstar, Refinitiv, eVestment; ability to master new tools
