Environmental Engineering Domain Lead – Defence Land and Sea

Overview

As Environmental Domain Lead, you will drive the Environmental Engineering (Mechanical & Climatic) activities across defence projects. You’ll define strategies to move requirements from definition to design, proving and certification, coordinating with cross-functional teams to keep Environmental Domain coherent. You’ll lead a small engineering team, manage delivery assurance, risks, schedules and budgets, and engage senior stakeholders to resolve environmental challenges. This role offers influence over design, manufacturing and proving, with opportunities to grow technical skills across MBDA UK’s portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver Environmental Engineering (Mechanical & Climatic) activities across projects
• Own strategies that govern requirements flow from definition to design, proving and certification
• Act as focal point for environmental domain, maturing requirements and engagement with ISV, Systems, Mechanical Analysis, Architecture, Quality and external parties
• Lead environmental working groups and delegate work to a team of up to five Engineers
• Manage technical assurance of design, performance, development, proving and qualification within the domain
• Oversee risk, schedules and budget for the environmental domain
• Engage with senior stakeholders to resolve environmental engineering challenges
• Influence design, manufacturing and proving of products while developing skills across MBDA UK’s portfolio

Key requirements

• Degree level education or equivalent experience
• Experience planning, managing, implementing and delivering strategies on time, cost and quality
• Experience in managing budgets and associated risk
• Knowledge of environmental engineering within defence or related industry
• Knowledge of Mechanical & Climatic environments and lifecycle impact
• Understanding of environmental test processes, measurements and instrumentation
• Awareness of Environmental Engineering Standards (DEF STAN 00-035, Mil Std 810)
• Innovative mindset for requirement definition and weapon system proving
• Working knowledge of Project Management tools
• Experience with requirement definition and management using DOORS
