AI & Platform Engineering Lead_London (Lead I – ML Engineering)

Overview

In this role you lead the evolution of UST’s Enterprise AI Platform, shaping its technical direction and roadmap. You will translate AI and GenAI innovations into production-ready, cloud-native capabilities and drivePlatform growth with secure, API-first solutions. You’ll mentor cross-functional teams across AI, cloud, and software engineering while staying hands-on to influence architecture decisions. Partner with clients and stakeholders to enable enterprise-scale AI adoption, delivering impactful, scalable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the engineering roadmap for the Enterprise AI Platform
• Transform AI/GenAI innovations into production-ready platform capabilities
• Build scalable, secure, API-first, cloud-native solutions for enterprise adoption
• Drive engineering excellence across architecture, DevSecOps, automation, observability, and platform reliability
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams across AI, cloud, platform, data and software engineering
• Partner with clients, architects and business stakeholders to accelerate AI adoption and platform growth
• Provide hands-on technical leadership via architecture reviews, design guidance, and engineering best practices

Key requirements

• Strong background in software, product, platform, or cloud engineering
• Proven experience building and scaling enterprise platforms, SaaS products, or reusable technologies
• Experience designing and delivering AI/GenAI solutions including LLM-based apps, AI orchestration, RAG, or AI platforms
• Expertise in Azure and modern cloud-native architectures
• Deep understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and enterprise integration
• Strong DevSecOps mindset including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and quality
• Experience taking products from concept to enterprise-scale adoption
• Ability to engage confidently with senior technical stakeholders and enterprise clients
• Hands-on technical credibility to challenge designs and guide architecture
