Associate Director – Project Controls

Overview

As Associate Director, you will lead project controls for major Midlands rail programmes, shaping how plans, costs and performance are managed. You’ll steer the controls function, ensuring accuracy, consistency and efficient use of resources across projects. You will review proposals, estimate resourcing needs, and support Programme Managers with timely reporting and data quality. This role sits at the intersection of planning, cost control and governance, contributing to high-impact infrastructure outcomes. Responsibilities

• Deliver Project Controls across major programmes in the Midlands
• Lead the programme controls function, monitoring plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting, and deploy controls resources
• Review new project proposals/remits to ensure realistic, deliverable resource plans
• Identify resourcing requirements and liaise with planning to resolve issues
• Provide efficient day-to-day reporting support to Programme and Project Managers on plans, costs, safety, environment and performance
• Ensure data input to cost and performance systems meets data standards
• Manage the production of the Investment Plan
• Comply with the Investment Competence Framework

Key requirements

• Experience in planning and scheduling, including schedule development, control and analysis
• Proven experience in the UK infrastructure construction sector
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with PC operating systems and basic software applications
• Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and startup processes
• Knowledge of engineering and construction management
