Senior Security Consultant – Public Sector

Overview

In this role you join the Public Sector team to help secure client transformations across Health, Central Government and Public Safety. You will lead security design, delivery and operation, guiding projects from design to handover and ongoing managed services. You will embed security by design, assess architectures and live systems for risk, and assure compliance with UK standards. You will engage with partners and clients to grow security services and shape bids and responses. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, trusted solutions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure designs, delivery and operation are secure
• Identify and shape business growth opportunities
• Provide security leadership throughout project lifecycles and managed services
• Embed security by design and ensure regulatory and client-specific compliance
• Assess solution architectures and live systems for security risks
• Collaborate with Service Management to enforce standards and verify compliance KPIs
• Act as trusted security advisor to senior clients
• Conduct risk assessments and assurance reviews
• Maintain security policies and guidelines for the Public Sector
• Support security input for RFI, RFP and tender responses
• Present security propositions with sales teams and identify expansion opportunities
• Build and nurture partner relationships to drive growth

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience with Public Sector clients (Health, Central Government or Public Safety)
• Minimum 5 years’ security consulting in multi-tier IT environments / GRC
• Experience delivering security solutions for large-scale infrastructure or transformation
• Knowledge of NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, NCSC CAF and other NCSC guidelines
• Experience in identifying sales opportunities and supporting Public Sector bids
• Solid networking knowledge (switching, routing, firewalls)
• Experience with Cloud adoption concepts and capabilities in AWS and/or Azure
• Understanding of security concepts, threats, analytics and threat intelligence
• Knowledge of security testing and vulnerability management (pen-testing, CVSS/CVE)
• Experience with ISO 27001/27002/27017/27108 or similar standards
