Overview

As a Principal EIA Consultant at WSP, you will lead environmental inputs across diverse projects and guide multi-disciplinary teams from concept to delivery. You’ll influence design toward sustainable outcomes and drive environmental performance across sectors like energy, aviation, and rail. You’ll shape strategies, build client relationships, and mentor junior colleagues within a collaborative, inclusive culture. Responsibilities

• Provide environmental advice to clients, PMs and colleagues
• Lead and coordinate EIA and environmental management workstreams across multiple sectors
• Manage delivery of screening/scoping reports, constraints studies, Environmental Statements and environmental management plans
• Collaborate to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
• Manage projects with focus on quality, commercial, programme and H&S performance
• Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to add value
• Support bids, proposals and strategic business development
• Contribute to innovation (Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA)
• Mentor and develop junior colleagues
• Promote inclusive workplace and wellbeing culture
• Support wider WSP business strategy through proactive collaboration

Key requirements

• Relevant degree in environmental assessment or related discipline
• Chartered Environmentalist status or working towards it, with IEMA membership or equivalent
• Strong experience delivering and coordinating EIAs within multi-disciplinary teams
• Knowledge of UK environmental and planning legislation
• Demonstrable project management experience including commercial and risk awareness
• Experience of work winning, bid preparation or proposals
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
