Overview

In this Avionics Systems Engineer role, you will support Typhoon and aeronautics mission systems to help deliver safe, mission-critical avionics. You work within a defence-focused team to lead systems integration and flight-test analysis, ensuring airworthiness through verification and validation. You’ll define test plans and operational analyses and mentor junior engineers. The position is based on site at RAF Coningsby and offers meaningful impact in cutting-edge defence technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and support to Typhoon and aeronautics mission and avionics systems
• Lead systems integration and flight-test analysis activities
• Apply verification and validation techniques to support airworthiness and safety
• Define and support test plans and operational analysis activities
• Support junior engineers within the analysis team

Key requirements

• Experience delivering technical analysis across the engineering lifecycle
• Basic proficiency in software development for engineering applications (Python, MATLAB, or C++)
• Background in systems engineering or aerospace engineering
• Experience in safety-critical or regulated environments
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong communication skills and ability to present technical findings
• On-site work at RAF Coningsby
• Relevant STEM Bachelor’s Degree
• Eligibility or willingness to obtain UK Security Clearance
