Principal Consultant – Health & Safety

Overview

In this role you deliver CDM and health & safety consultancy from our London office, tailoring services to client needs. You’ll develop and optimise CDM/H&S processes, act as Principal Designer when required, and help clients understand their legal responsibilities. You’ll build trusted relationships and ensure high-quality, compliant project support across commissions. This is a client-facing, impact-driven position in a global firm focused on delivering safe, efficient project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Understand client needs and propose practical solutions to CDM/H&S challenges
• Develop existing systems to improve CDM and H&S efficiency
• Act as Principal Designer where required and help clients manage legal responsibilities under CDM
• Build positive relationships with clients to gain trust and advocacy
• Represent Turner & Townsend professionally in meetings, negotiations, and communications
• Manage commissions to meet client scope and company quality standards
• Perform H&S performance reviews and audits for clients
• Collaborate with SHQ and colleagues to ensure project consistency, quality, and profitability
• Prepare pre-construction information and relevant H&S files

Key requirements

• NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Full UK driving licence
• NEBOSH Diploma Level (or equivalent)
• GradIOSH or equivalent
• Membership of the APS
• Experience as a Principal Designer
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to plan and organise workload to meet deadlines
• Extensive knowledge and experience of the Construction Industry, especially CDM Regulations
• Experience across diverse industry sectors is advantageous
