Associate Director, Estimating – Infrastructure

Overview

As an Associate Director in Estimating, lead accurate cost planning and estimate production for projects and programmes within the UK infrastructure sector. You will shape estimating practice, support growth, and guide teams while interfacing with clients and other consultants. The role combines bid leadership, staff development, and new business opportunities, contributing to Turner & Townsend’s ambitious expansion and delivery of major infrastructure programmes. You will work with cross‑functional teams to turn data and assumptions into sound financial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the production of accurate estimates and cost plans for projects/programmes
• Promote estimating best practices and contribute to departmental objectives
• Stay current with developments in your technical area
• Collaborate with Directors on bid preparation for new work
• Provide guidance to staff and model role‑based leadership
• Interface with clients and other consultants across project stages
• Develop new business opportunities and identify cross‑selling potential
• Staff management where appropriate and knowledge management

Key requirements

• Proven estimating management experience
• Qualified to high standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with relevant experience
• Experience using estimating software packages
• Experience on Major Programmes and Projects
• Experience in the Infrastructure sector (rail, air, power, highways)
• Experience in leading and managing teams
• Desirable professional memberships (RICS/CIOB/A Cost E)
• SOX control awareness (where applicable)
