Digital Lead, England & Wales

Overview

In this role, you will drive digital delivery and advisory for AECOM’s England & Wales Water practice, combining hands-on digital work with client-facing consultancy. You’ll champion data-driven decision making and emerging technologies, including AI, to generate measurable client and project outcomes. You’ll lead multi-project delivery, shape digital strategy, and help clients adopt new platforms and governance models. Responsibilities

• Lead digital delivery across multiple projects and frameworks in England & Wales, ensuring the team has the right tools and capabilities
• Develop and implement digital optimisation strategies in collaboration with the core digital team and translate strategy into actionable work plans
• Advise clients on digital transformation approaches, including data governance, operating models, platform adoption and roadmaps
• Engage with Client Account Managers to identify digital opportunities and align delivery with client needs
• Champion AI, machine learning and data science adoption across projects and client engagements
• Identify automation opportunities and develop MVPs with potential for scaling
• Support regional delivery teams in adopting latest digital solutions and upskilling as needed
• Lead bid responses for digital-led opportunities, including strategy, content, and proposals
• Facilitate client workshops, stakeholder sessions and internal presentations to align on strategy and demonstrate value

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline
• Strong experience in a digital, data, or technology-focused role within infrastructure or water sectors
• Proven track record of leading digital delivery across multiple programmes in complex environments
• Experience with UK water sector clients and regulated frameworks
• Strong data skills including data governance, Power BI and Azure; Python scripting preferred
• Ability to translate digital strategy into measurable, deliverable work plans
• Confident communicator capable of engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience facilitating client workshops and contributing to bid responses
